Belgian Double-Barrel Percussion Dagger Pistol with Scabbard
Description: NSN, .38 Caliber, 4" barrels with good, lightly pitted bores. This is a very handsome weapon that combines two "E/LG" proofed pistol barrels mated to a large dagger that has a 19 1/2" overall length, and a 14" straight, double-edged blade with short central fullers. The steel has an overall armory bright finish with some scattered spots of mild freckling and pinprick pitting scattered about, as well as some small notches along either edge of the blade. The hilt has reversed quillons, two of which are actually the hammers for the pistols, and a bag-shaped grip with grooved walnut grip panels. Cocking the hammers cause two flip-down triggers to emerge from the grip, and firing the actions cause them to spring up flush with the tang again. The dagger is housed in the original brown leather scabbard with brass throat, and tip chape. The scabbard is in very good-fine condition, with some crazing of the leather and a general ochre patina on the brass. There are some small dents and handling marks scattered about the brass furniture as well. This is a rare piece in its own right, but finding one with its original scabbard is extremely rare. This example is in fine shape and would make a splendid addition to any collection. Antique Price: $4,995.00 Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
