Description: British PARKER Antique SIDE-HAMMER .45 PERCUSSION Self Defense BELT Pistol SILVER BANDED English Pistol Made Circa the 1840s Here we present an antique English German Silver Banded Parker Percussion Pistol, made circa the 1840s in London, England. This pistol features a large .45 caliber “manstopping” bore that would have been worn on the belt or holstered as it was possibly carried into battle by a soldier purchased for himself who was wanting a backup weapon. This is a neat old pistol, and one can easily imagine the sight of its gaping bore would certainly be a deterrent to would be scoundrels and would have made a stately weapon for self-defense in mid-19th Century Britain. It would have felt right at home in a gentleman’s coat pocket or inside a lady’s purse or muff. The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age with deep grooves. Silver and gold inlaid breech bands. A crack is present on both sides of the barrel tang, which are stable. Legible markings. Lightly engraved. Solid checkered grip. Own the original!
