Description: BRITISH SILVER MOUNTED PERCUSSION .50 CAL. DERINGER TYPE BELT PISTOL BY C. ROBBINS, LONDON CIRCA 1830-34. 11” o/a with 7” octagon smoothbore barrel signed “LONDON”. Engraved hammer and back action lock with the maker’s name “C. ROBBINS”. Sterling silver engraved mounts including a butt cap with percussion cap trap door compartment of sterling silver. Walnut stock with checkered bag shaped grip. Done in the American style made famous by Henry Deringer in the mid 1820’s and exported for sale in America where they were vastly popular at the time. Very good overall with original dark metal patina. Wood with the original varnish. Lock in working order. Original wood ramrod with brass tip. C. Robbins is listed in Heer’s “DER NEUE STOCKEL” in Vol. 2, page 1052. Heer dates him as working in “London” between 1830 and 1834 with no address given. Very nice looking and of good quality with the engraved sterling silver mounts. SOLD Antique: Yes |
