c1861 CIVIL WAR IMPORT Belgian LEMILLE RIFLE-MUSKET .74 Caliber Percussion
With Saber Bayonet!
Description: c1861 CIVIL WAR IMPORT Belgian LEMILLE RIFLE-MUSKET .74 Caliber Percussion With Saber Bayonet! Here we present an antique Lemille Percussion Rifled Infantry Musket, made circa 1861 in Liege, Belgium. New arms such as this as well as surplus and obsolescent arms were purchase en masse by both Union and Confederacy during the American Civil War. This musket was made in Belgium by Joseph Lemille, who clearly patterned it from the French muskets of the 1840s and 50s. These were stolid and reliable and looked at rather favorably by the troops compared to many of the various musketry that was imported for the war effort. Like the US Model 1841, this was a shorter overall musket and like the M1841 this one has a long saber bayonet. This type of feature helped with the weapon’s reach when it came to using the musket and bayonet together as a pike. It also made the bayonet more useful as it could be used as a short sword or machete, whereas a typical triangular bayonet could not. It also helped maneuverability of the musket without the bayonet attached. The overall condition is very good. Original patina. Strong action. Nice, rifled bore with a patina. The walnut stock is solid with a less than average amount of wear. Clear marks. A Liege proof has been stamped on the left barrel flat. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 34-1/4 inches. Caliber: .74 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2435 #217074 SOLD Antique: Yes |
