Colt 1849 Colt Pocket
Description:
Outstanding set of untouched engraved Colt 6" 1849 Pockets, S/Ns 46076 and 49761. Mfd 1852. These revolvers can be found in Wilson's Book of Colt Engraving Vol I page 54 (photos included below). These revolvers were re cased by a well known and respected collector in a beautiful brass bound rosewood case with all accessories including a Colt's Cartridge Works combustible cartridge pack. All accessories and case are rated excellent. Revolvers have some minor loss of barrel blue, more so on the right side of S/N 46076, toned case colors, excellent grips and near 100% silver on back straps and trigger guards. Cylinder scenes are clearly visible on both with noticeable typical loss of blue. Both are mechanically sound. The bores on both pieces are clean and crisp. S/N 49761 shows one area of minor bore pitting.
As noted by Wilson, these revolvers were engraved by different hands and represent a study in donut scroll engraving variations.
