English ENGRAVED Antique BLANCH DOUBLEBARREL Percussion Pistol SNAP BAYONET With Custom Fitted Wooden Case
Description: English ENGRAVED Antique BLANCH DOUBLEBARREL Percussion Pistol SNAP BAYONET
With Custom Fitted Wooden Case
Here we present an antique Cased and Engraved John Blanch Double Barrel SxS Boxlock Pistol with a Snap Bayonet, made circa the late 1850s in London, England. John Blanch had a shop at 29 Gracechuch Street and would eventually take on his son as a partner. This pistol would have packed quite the punch with two .42 caliber bores. It has case colored barrels with a blued trigger guard. It is beautifully engraved throughout. This is a stout pistol without being huge. It could fit in a large coat pocket. In a day when many people were carrying single shot pistols, this not only had two shots, it also was equipped with a springloaded bayonet or dagger that could be engaged as well! It was quite the defensive tool and handsome to boot!
The overall condition is fine. Original blue is preserved on the trigger guard. Case colors are present on the frame and barrels. Excellent actions. Both bores remain smooth and have dimmed. Sharply engraved. Solid grip with nice checkering. Legible markings. The snap bayonet functions, but when it is deployed the latch does not fully catch. Beautiful case and good accessories.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
