ENGRAVED, DAMASCUS Folding Trigger CONCEALED SIDE HAMMER Pistol .50 Antique European Pocket Carry Sidearm
Description: ENGRAVED, DAMASCUS Folding Trigger CONCEALED SIDE HAMMER Pistol .50 Antique European Pocket Carry Sidearm Here we present an antique European Percussion Folding Trigger Pistol with a concealed side hammer, made likely in mainland Europe circa the 1850s. This mid-19th century pistol is of the same style of French gunmaker LePage-Moutier. It is a .50 caliber single barrel percussion pocket pistol with a turn off barrel. It features a concealed side hammer with a ring pull to reveal the side fitted percussion action along with a folding trigger. The pipe form walnut stock has a hinged butt plate for storage of one’s ball and cap. This little pistol is nicely engraved throughout and has a Damascus barrel. This self-defense pistol would have been most at home in the pocket of anyone in the busy cities of Paris, Liege or London during the tumultuous times of the mid-1800s. These type pistols are small, light and simple. The “Pocket Pistol” name says it all. They were the "Saturday Night Specials" of the 16th-19th century. Before the Deringer, they were "Gentleman's" or "Muff Pistols", typically, a smaller pistol that was easily concealed. They were favored among the gentry and women because of these traits. Men would carry them concealed in a waistcoat pocket and women would hide them in a hand muff. The overall condition is very good. Excellent action. The bore has dimmed (aged) and remains clear. Finely engraved frame. Very good grip, well defined wood grains. There is a small crack at the top of the grip. A unique single shot pistol that hardly looks like a firearm! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 2-5/8 inches. Caliber: .50 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1500 #217336 SOLD Antique: Yes |
