Engraved PATILLA MIQUELET “Militia” Percussion Belt/Pocket Pistol EUROPEAN
Early to Mid-19th Century Miquelet Pistol
Description: Engraved PATILLA MIQUELET “Militia” Percussion Belt/Pocket Pistol EUROPEAN Early to Mid-19th Century Miquelet Pistol Here we present an antique Patilla, or “Militia” Miquelet Percussion Belt Pistol, made likely in mainland Europe circa the early to mid-19th century. The miquelet was an early and sturdy form of flintlock popular throughout Europe and the Ottoman Empire from the seventeenth into the early nineteenth century. A “Miquelet” is a type of flintlock developed in Spain. It is a distinctive form of snaplock, originally as a flint-against-steel ignition form, once prevalent in Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Balkans, North Africa and the Ottoman Empire from the late 16th to the mid-19th centuries. The miquelet lock, with its combined battery and pan cover was the final innovative link that made the flintlock mechanism possible. It proved to be both the precursor and companion to what we now call the "true" flintlock. The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. Some chipping is present in front of the lock, otherwise the wood is in good shape. Lightly engraved side plate. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 4-1/2 inches. Caliber: .71 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #233686 SOLD Antique: Yes |
