ENGRAVED W. PARKER Antique SIDE-HAMMER .50 Caliber PERCUSSION BELT Pistol
English Pistol Made Circa the Late 1830s
Description: ENGRAVED W. PARKER Antique SIDE-HAMMER .50 Caliber PERCUSSION BELT Pistol English Pistol Made Circa the Late 1830s Here we present an antique English W. Parker Percussion Belt Pistol, made circa the mid-1800s in London, England. William Parker was a gunmaker who worked in London, England. Between 1793 to 1839, he worked out of 233 High Holborn Street, and between 1839 and 1841 at 10 Chamber Street. He was gunmaker to the Duke of Kent, Prince Edward, and William IV. He held contracts to ordnance with the East India Company and the Hudson Bay Company. He supplied arms to the London Police between 1803 and the Metropolitan Police from 1829 until he died at age 68 in 1841. His company was succeeded by Park Field and Sons. This pistol features a large .50 caliber “manstopping” bore that would have been worn on the belt or holstered as it was possibly carried into battle by a soldier purchased for himself who was wanting a backup weapon. This is a neat old pistol and one can easily imagine the sight of its gaping bore would certainly be a deterrent to would be scoundrels and would have made a stately weapon for self defense in mid-19th Century Britain. It would have felt right at home in a gentleman’s coat pocket or inside a ladies purse or muff. The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. Solid stock/grip overall and has retained sharp checkering. Legible markings. Nicely engraved lock, hammer, and tang. This example has been refinished. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3-1/2 inches. Caliber: .50 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1500 #230099 SOLD Antique: Yes |
