32721- NAPOLEONIC WARS PENINSULA CAMPAIGN BRITISH GEORGE III PERCUSSION CONVERSION DUELING PISTOL BY WILLIAM JOVER OF LONDON CIRCA 1790’S. 15” o/a with 9” smoothbore .60 caliber octagon Damascus barrel with intaglio gold touchmark stamped “JOVER/LONDON”. Lock plate engraved “JOVER”. Checkered bag grip walnut half stock with London hallmarked silver forend cap and silver shield form wrist escutcheon engraved “BADAJOZ/LE 9 JUIN/1811” for the second battle of Badajoz during the Napoleonic Wars. Engraved steel mounts and lock. Moderate wear overall with wedge escutcheon on right forend missing. Crisp engraving and markings and in working order. Fair bore. Wood ramrod a later replacement. Probable war trophy of a French veteran. $750.
