Description:
This original – 1837 – French Marine Navel – Model 1st Type – percussion pistol has a polished tapered round 28/32” to ¾” x 6” smooth bore 62 (.624) caliber barrel. The bore is shiney and without pitting. Attached to the barrel is the complete functioning captured metal ramrod. Inscribed on the tang is Mle 1837. The P grade European Walnut stock is fitted with a mix of brass and polished steel furniture, including a brass barrel band, brass pistol grip cap with attached lanyard swivel, steel lock bolt escutcheon and belt hook. The polished backaction percussion lock with Mre Rle de Culle inscribed on the plate is activated by a single trigger. It fires a musket percussion cap. Please Note: Most of the screw heads have been stamped with the number ten and many inspector proof and cartouche marks can be seen on the metal parts, including the barrel. The stock is sound with the exception of age related handling marks. Overall: 12", weight: 1lb 10oz. Good wood to metal fit – made by Mre Rle de Culle – France. Condition: Good to Very Good.
