Description: Make: Remington Model: Springfield Model 1863 Rifle Musket Serial Number: None Year of Manufacture: 1863 Caliber: .58 Action Type: Single Shot Muzzle Loader Markings: Stamped on the top of the barrel, just ahead of the tang, is 1863 and on the left side is "STEEL R.K.A". There are also the standard V/P/eagle head proofs stamped below the date. The rear of the lock is crisply dated 1863 and has a clear eagle over U.S. with REMINGTON’S / ILION, N.Y. forward. The two brass barrel bands are stamped "U". US stamped on top of butt plate.There are 2 inspector’s cartouches stamped behind the top lock bolt. Barrel Length: Approximately 33” Sights / Optics: Adjustable military leaf rear sight, fixed front sight and bayonet lug Stock Configuration & Condition: Musket features a case hardened lock, brass butt plate, brass patchbox, brass trigger guard, two brass barrel bands, brass end cap, two leaf sight, and two sling swivels and metal ram rod. The hardwood walnut stock is in very nice overall condition with normal handling marks, and light impressions. No signs of cracks, chips, deep gouges. Type of Finish: The barrel still has a nice deep overall bluing Finish Originality: Original Bore Condition: Crisp rifling Overall Condition: The barrel surface shows no signs of pitting, corrosion, nicks, or dents. No signs of pitting around the breech, bolster, or lock. Muted case color on the lock. The screw heads show light usage. Brass furniture has nice mustard color. Markings are crisp. Overall rifle in excellent condition. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. Strong hammer spring. We have not fired this rifle.
