RARE Philadelphia Antique WURFFLEIN SALOON Pistol German-American Immigrant Gunmaker Philadelphia
Description: RARE Philadelphia Antique WURFFLEIN SALOON Pistol German-American Immigrant Gunmaker Philadelphia Here we present an antique Andrew Wurfflein Deringer Percussion Saloon Pistol, made circa the 1880s. This pistol was made in the 1850s by Andrew Wurfflein. He arrived in New York from Germany in 1832 and settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. By 1840, he was granted U.S. citizenship. In 1844, his brother John, also a gunsmith by trade, immigrated. They worked together for some time, and were two of the six that founded the Shuetzen Verein, a prominent German shooting club in Philadelphia. Their work included rifles and pistols, including close copies of their Philadelphia neighbor Henry Deringer’s hit pocket pistol. This is a Deringer type pistol meant to be used for gallery shooting, which happened to be a common pastime in saloons of the day. There is a small aperture in the grip of the stock that could accept the end of a wire stock, which is not included. The overall condition is near fine. 90% of the original nickel finish remains on the metal parts. There are no external markings. The stock is in good shape with a hair crack on the left side where the lock screw inserts, a common flaw on these types of pistols. The bore is in very good condition. The action remains strong. Here is a rare example of Wurfflein’s Saloon Pistol! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3-3/8 inches in length. Caliber: .177 percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1000 #190347 SOLD Antique: Yes |
