SWEDISH Antique OFFICER’S Pistol by DAVID BARS
Description: SWEDISH Antique OFFICER’S Pistol by DAVID BARS Marked “DAVID BARS STOCKHOLM”, Carved & Engraved Here we present an antique Swedish Officer’s Pistol, made circa the mid-18th Century by David Bars of Stockholm, and converted to percussion sometime in the mid-19th Century. David Bars was one of the premier gun makers of his day. He was born in 1868 and became a royal gun maker in 1719 at the age of 33. He died in 1759. This pistol features a carved stock and tapering 9-1/2 inch octagonal barrel. The pommel on this gun is flat, unlike many horse pistols of its day, and also contains a hollow with a small cover to retain patches. The trigger guard is equipped with a finger rest and features a very nicely decorated finial. Both the brass trigger guard and pommel are nicely engraved. The lock plate is marked “DAVID BARS/STOCKHOLM”. It was originally made as a flintlock and updated to percussion at some point in the 19th Century. Various conflicts it could have participated in are the various Russo-Swedish Wars, the Seven Years War, and the Napoleonic Wars. The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces bear a smooth, dark patina. Markings are legible. The bore is smooth, dark, and dusty. The stock is in good condition with the exception of the deterioration of the horn tip. Two fine cracks are located in the ramrod channel. Ramrod is absent. The action on this pistol is not currently functional but would be with the replacement of the sear spring. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 9-½ inches. Caliber: .60 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1750 #6251 SOLD Antique: Yes |
