US Model 1842 N.P. Ames with a 1845 lock date

Description:
The breech is marked 1844 RP over P and behind the tang is a rack number 31 stamped on the wood. The barrel is a 54 caliber round smooth bore with a J on the nipple bolster. The mechanical function is very good the nipple is ok. There is no cartouche on the wood flat. The wood is not cracked or damaged.
