The Woodsman line is widely regarded as one of the finest American .22 caliber autoloading pistol families ever produced, and the Match Target represents Colt’s premier, purpose-built target variant developed expressly for formal bullseye and precision competition.
This example is chambered in .22 Long Rifle and features the correct and highly desirable 6?-inch (6.625") barrel, a defining characteristic of the prewar First Series Match Target. Collectors prize this barrel length for its extended sight radius and balanced target profile, and it serves as a key point of distinction between the early Match Target pistols and many later postwar Woodsman Target and Match Target variants, which more commonly appear with 6-inch barrels.
