Description: Civil War Smith & Wesson Model # 1 First Issue Revolver In Its Original Black Gutta Percha Case A Very Early & Scarce Civil War Smith & Wesson Model # 1 First Issue Revolver In Its Original Black Gutta Percha Case In Fine & Untouched Condition. Serial #8,267 with all matching numbers. Made from 1857-1860. The revolver has fine metal, markings and crisp edges. The barrel & cylinder on the gun both have an even & natural darkened plum brown patina on them with the cylinder having hints of original blue around it. The frame & backstrap are excellent & retain nearly all of their original silver on them. The original grips on the gun are fine throughout with a very nice color to them. All the screws on the gun are nice. The pistol has a fine action and very good bore. The very scarce & original factory gutta percha case is in very fine untouched condition. It has a large raised likeness of the gun in the center with fancy raised designs on all four corners. There are small raised Smith & Wesson Revolvers between the corners of the top and all around the edges on the bottom of the case. The top of the case reads, "MANUFACTURED ONLY BY SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFIELD MASSACHUSETTS" on either side of the large gun. The interior of the case is fine and all original throughout.
