Description:
An outstanding Astra 400 (M1921) issued to the WWII German Army, 1 of 6,000 pistols in serial range 92,851-98,850 in 1941. Standard configuration Model 400, caliber 9mm/38 (9mm Largo), with Astra U/C logo on forward slide. Rear of slide marked with manufacturer address, caliber, and model. Proofing code “M” (1941) on left tang in association with the Eibar and automatic pistol proof, the latter repeated on the left side of slide and the exposed barrel hood that is additionally marked with the caliber. Matching serial numbers on slide, barrel and frame. Fitted with coarsely checkered walnut panels. Original Astra E/U logoed magazine.
Condition:
EXC, bright original finish with minimal handling/holster wear. A few fine oxidative flecks on the grip safety with commensurate fading of the fire blue on the dome of the grip screws and some exposed portions of the magazine release. Most original fire blue remaining on the extractor. Darkened grips with minimally blunted checkering. Mirror bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics.
