This pistol was in the early 90’s as part of a small run of pistols commemorating the FBI National Academy. It was only available for purchase by FBI agents. It features a slide with the right side engraved with the words “FBI National Academy / Knowledge – Courage – Integrity”. The left side bears the standard “Beretta U.S.A. Corp. Acck. MD / MOD. 92FS 9mm Parabellum”. Both sets of lettering feature gold inlay. The frame also has gold inlay within the serial number on the left side and the special NA serial number on the right side. Both the grip panels have a medallion exhibiting the FBI National Academy seal. The pistol is in overall excellent condition and remains unfired. The “gold” plating on lower right hand grip screw is worn in one spot. The Beretta 92 is one of the most famous and more commonly known pistols. It was the official sidearm of the U.S. Army from 1985 until 2017 and is a common sight in action films and video games. The 92 is a development of the Model 1951 pistol which was the first Beretta which incorporated the locking block barrel design from the Walther P38. Although this pistol comes with a 15 round magazine, today, Mec-Gar produces 18-round mags which are flush fitting as well as an extended 20-round magazine that protrudes from the bottom of the grip by around three quarters of an inch.
