Description:
Mid production Bernadelli UB, well finished and with an internal hammer. One of fewer than 85 pistols completed, numbered in a separate serial range, all single action blowbacks with a unique buffering system to handle the hotter 9mm Lungo (as opposed to Parabellum) loading. Failing military acceptance, the few completed samples were sold commercially, the concept never revisited. This example has a fixed front and rear sight. The left side of the slide is marked with the usual manufacturer identifiers and caliber. The right side of the pistol is proof marked, dated "1957", the serial number "56" appearing on the back strap. Fitted with finely checkered wood grips, the left panel having a shallow thumb rest. Bottom magazine release, the magazine with large central window and a finger extension floorplate. Described in detail by Ian McCollum in his Forgotten Weapons presentation: youtube/watch?v=d95MppOTaw4 CONSECUTIVE TO SN: 55 ON OUR !!!

Stunning 99+% bright original salt blue finish. Comparable condition grips and magazine. Mirror bright bore. Correct manual mechanics. A great, no-excuse, modern era experimental pistol made 1957, expressly designed to shoot submachine gun ammunition.
