This special pistol was produced for one year to commemorate the 100th Annivesary of the founding of Browning Arms Co. by John Moses Browning who invented some of the most famous firearms in history including the M1911, the M1917/1919 .30-cal MG, the M2 .50-cal HMG, the M1887/1897/1912 shotguns, the M1886/1892/1894 lever action rifles, the Superposed shotgun, the M1918 BAR, and the Auto-5 shotgun. Even the Hi Power was a design of Browning’s though the design was modified from the original single-stack magazine configuration to a staggered column (double-stack) magazine by Dieudonne Saive in the 1930s before finally being produced as the M1935 by FN-Herstal in Belgium in 1935. Mr. Browning was such a prolific inventor that many of his designs were used as the basis for many designs all over the world. For example, most of the Japanese Army Air Force’s WW2 fighter planes used guns that were essentially a scaled up M2.
