Browning D-Day Commemorative High Power Pistol #11/150
Description:
BROWNING'S MOST LIMITED ISSUE HIGH POWER.
"The Browning D-Day Commemorative High Power Pistol"
Product of Browning Custom Shop in Herstal
Only 150 mfg. late 1994-very early1995
As a collectible firearm, this pistol has EVERYTHING :
- Excellent! Condition
This pistol unfired outside of the factory. It is complete, original, and essentially NIB condition. It is free of storage issues. After 20 years, the clear coat on the gold trigger seems to have flaked in places while the gold hammer is perfect. This is not a matter of mishandling or improper storage, it simply is.
- Excellent! Quality
Handcrafted in the Herstal Custom Shop. It was designed, engraved, and signed by notable engraver, Eduard Vos. It is a pure Belgian pistol. Inlays on top slide are gold leaf and gold wire 24k, not etching.
- Excellent! Rarity
There Are Exactly 150 of These.. This is the most limited production High Power known...and this one even has some features that separate it from others within this limited register of 150, described below.
- Excellent! Historical Value**
(explained below) The historical aspect is probably the reason this one made the ATF C&R list.
- Excellent! Eye Appeal
- Fact.
This pistol can be found on the "ATF Curios or Relics List." It is by far, the most limited in production of the 3 Browning High Powers that are on that list. This is NOT a "3rd party" commemorative. This is exclusively a product of the FN/Browning Custom Shop in Herstal Belgium. This gem is not in the BBGV.
PURCHASE this excellent custom shop product package. 100% complete and original. This includes every single piece of paperwork and extras that came with the issue.

THIS IS NO ORDINARY COMMEMORATIVE!
**
Browning made an extra effort to create something truly special to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy,June 6,1944. The historical importance of this commemorative cannot be overstated, D-Day changed the world. Particularly important to Fabrique Nationale, FN facilities operated under enemy occupation and had been producing weapons for enemy forces for nearly 4 years at the time of the Allied Invasion. Rightful factory ownership and operations were restored from the hands of enemy occupation by result of the united effort, allied invasion, which began on D-Day. FN/Browning did not forget that, and this pistol is what they had to say about it on the 50th anniversary of D-Day in 1994.
A special register of serial numbers was created specifically for this commemorative, 245DD000xxx.
You are looking at #245DD000011. Not only is this a low serial number in a very limited register, even more attractive for an important WWII commemorative pistol, #11 is deeply symbolic. Consider the exact language from the Armistice Agreement at the close of WWI..."the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918." The numbers were not chosen at random, they were chosen because they were symbolic then, as they are now. 11/11 became memorialized as "Remembrance Day". It was renamed "Veteran's Day" in the U.S. in 1954. The symbolism is an especially nice plus for this pistol.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF INTEREST
These features separate this pistol from others in the register of 150.
I have seen only 3 other examples of this pistol in photos. None of them displayed the "CS" marking on the left trigger guard.
This early unsigned version of the letter of authenticity...It is unclear how deeply into the register this original version of the letter was issued, but I have one. An edited, signed version exists and was issued to later run pistols.
