FN Browning HiPower T-series
Description: For sale is a cold war Browning Hi-Power manufactured by FN for the Belgian Politie. It appears unmodified with the correct ring style hammer, lanyard ring, external extractor and magazine disconnect. The original finish shows some wear consistent with age and service with four clearly visible matching serial numbers on the pistol. The bore is bright and the rifling strong. There are faint Belgian proof stamps on the right side of the trigger guard and frame, and US import markings on the frame at the heel of the grip. Sights are a blade foresight and a notched rear sight whose zero has not been adjusted by the current owner. The overall condition remains solid, with smooth reliable mechanics, clean lines and a few normal usage scratches in the original Parkerized type finish and on the original checkered black bakelite grips. Included are 2 period correct 13x9mm magazines with the aluminum followers (plus an extra slightly more recent 13x9mm magazine of unknown provenance). The NRA grading for this firearm is Good to Very Good and it retains much of its original character. Included in this sale is a very nice black leather police holster issued for use with the GP-35 (the Belgian military first adopted in the HiPower in 1935, Grande Puissance being French for High Power) and stores an extra magazine. The holster is in very good to excellent condition and shows signs of being issued out and used. The manufacturers stamp can be found on the front flap just above the heel of the grip and appears to be "LEDERWERKE-WINDELN WIENSBERG.HW1" and there appears to be a repeated faint inspectors stamp "158", indicating a model HW1 leather holster made by Wiensberg, a coachwork company since 1912 that after WW2 took its current name from the town it was based in. As such they would have leather workers who at some point won contracts to produce holsters for various police forces and other users. The company still exists today and since 1969 has been a well known manufacturer of German motorhomes. Other markings on the holster can be found on the back. It appears to be a partial serial number which would have matched the pistol it was originally issued with. That serial number is 54270 and would be used for a pistol manufactured in 1952 and thus this holster is consistent with other late WW2 / post war holsters that were used by various NATO police forces. There is no damage other than minor fading and wear to the black finish. All stitching is still intact and so are the leather loops and buckles. The inner leather pistol draw/removal strap is also still present. Included is a fair condition lightly worn period correct round leather lanyard likely of postwar military production. This set is a wonderful example of a Cold War Police issue pistol/holster and is ready to be displayed amongst any Police or High Power pistol collection.
