Description:
Here is a nice 1855 Springfield pistol without the shoulder stock. The .58 caliber bore is dark with visible rifling. The metal is uncleaned as is the brass mounts. The hammer will not hold at half cock or full cock. Leaves on rear sight are missing but proofs and date are sharp. Lockplate markings were stamped light but are visible. Just a smooth brown patina. The screw on captive ramrod is broken and missing one part of the primer system. Missing ring at the bottom. Pitting visible at rear of the barrel. This pistol saw action as most of these were obsolete at the beginning of the war. Price includes shipping and price is right.
the cartouche is visible and can be made out. Missing the Maynard parts on the inside. Several of these were used by Confederate soldiers as one was dug at Port Hudson another photographed in a tintype.
