Elgin made for private contract approx 150 for U.S. Union Navy contract by CB Allen Springfield Mass (U.S. Navy Elgin Cutlass Pistol) N.P Ames made these for Elgin and subsequently this design was copied by a few Confederate makers

Forged with integral trigger guard and knuckle guard
