Attractive original condition Pre-war Colt 1908 Hammerless Pistol, .380 ACP, made 1938, in custom leather case for Sir Francis Lloyd with spare magazine and cleaning rod.
Description:
Standard configuration blued Colt 1908 Hammerless, cal .380 AUTO, having blade front sight and drift adjustable rear sight, 3 3/4" barrel. Left side of slide with two line address. Rampant Colt past the slide serrations at rear of slide. Full serial number on left side of frame. Colt inspection marks “W” and “VP” on the left side of the trigger guard while "74" is on the right trigger guard. Right side of the slide marked “COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE .380 HAMMERLESS”. Fitted with checkered wooden grips with silvered Rampant Colt medallions. Two 2-tone magazines marked “CAL .380 COLT” on the floorplate. Complete with custom made green felt lined, leather bound box with owners initials/name stamped into its top lid and base. No literature. Accessories limited to cleaning rod/brush and spare magazine.
Condition:
Pistol has 97-98% bright original pre-war Colt blue with sharp edge wear and a few very fine scattered speckles. Sharply checkered grips with out losses or splits. Excellent magazines. Cleaning brush has lost the majority of its bristles. VG leather box with much of the stitching missing from the retaining clasp. Folds beginning to craze, especially on the wrap around strap. A very nice 1908 Pre-war Colt in custom leather case referencing “Sir Francis Lloyd”, a person worth of further investigation.
