Description:
Up for your consideration is a very nice Colt 1911a1 , .45acp. Serial # 782382 , early WW2 1942 .This Colt was shipped May 26 ,1942 to the Commanding General at Springfield Armory .The bore is excellant +, bright , with very  strong lands and grooves with no sign of erosion . The barrel has the ' Colt 45 Auto stamped above the lug . The barrel and bushing have very little external wear . The roll marks and serial # have sharp deep stamping .The pistol is " P " proofed below the mag release and the top of slide . The slide & frame fit is very tight .. There is the letter "G" below the lug on the barrel. The slide serial #  matches the frame serial # . When pistol is field stripped , on top of frame  rear right there is the letter G and a flaming bomg above that . The inspector mark is W.B. Grips are excellant and are hollow ,  marked #4 , #6 .  Light surface wear on slide and frame and some very  light erosion on the slide  The finish has a  patina that looks outstanding . There is some silvering on the high edges   The one magazine is a 2 tone which was common in early 1942 . The Holster ,  Enger-Kress , 1942 , is in excellant condition , strong stitching and strong rivets . Sorry for some lint in some  photos . This 80 yr old Colt is a true classic of early WW2 .
