First introduced in the 1950s and modeled after the original M1911 the Colt Gold Cup is a competition class semi-automatic handgun chambered in .45 ACP and was given to competitive shooters to take directly from the dealers showcase to the firing line. Colt Gold Cup pistols have been used to compete in local club matches through the National Matches at Camp Perry. Features include an adjustable wide trigger a National Match barrel and a lowered and flared ejection port as well as target post front and fully adjustable Bomar rear sights. The Gold Cup also employs a round top slide and Double Diamond Checkered Rosewood Medallion. The Colt Gold Cup is known as the finest shooting semi-automatic in the world and is the standard for competitive guns. Other standard features include a Standard Safety Lock, Wide Target Trigger. This is a Fully CIP compliant pistol for the European countries that require guns to be produced according to the CIP specifications. All major parts are marked with the serial number and US23 which designates the country of origin and the year they were produced. .45 ACP
