Serial Number: 2975-MA
When released in 1967, these handsomely decorated pistols were issued to commemorate the upcoming 50th anniversary of The United States participation in World War I. There were four Colt .45 ACP 1911's issued commemorating actions at Chateau-Thierry, Belleau Wood, Marne River (2nd Battle) and Meuse-Argonne; each with a battle scene engraving on the slide and insert battle bar on the grip. All models were displayed in a khaki-colored wood showcase with reversable battle map and history of the action.
This individual Colt 1911 is finely finished in the classic Colt Royal blue, deep and lustrous in its application it frames the battle scene engraved on the slide depicting the famous action known as the Battle of the Meuse-Argonne that led the way to the armistice of 1918. The offensive was the largest operation undertaken by the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) in World War I, with over a million American soldiers participating. The battle was fought from September 26, 1918 until November 11, 1918 and was an ambitious and complex undertaking. In command of the American Expeditionary Force was General John J. Pershing. The American forces found themselves fighting through rough, hilly tree-covered terrain that the Germans had fortified over a four-year period. Pershing’s task was enormous - to break the back of the Germans and force an end to the fighting once and for all. The battle raged with stiffening resistance from reinforced Germans lines, but on the night of November 1st the German High Command issued orders for a withdrawal from the west bank of the Meuse, which led to a general retreat along the whole front and proceeded the surrender of the German forces.

The grip panels are of Smooth Crotch Walnut showing a feather pattern with inlet bronze medallions and banner. This Colt honors the past glories of the those perilous times and the sacrifices made by the men of the American Expeditionary Force to help stymie the advancing German Army.

This colt has a historically accurate 1911 style hammer, slide stop, safety lock, mainspring, receiver and trigger. The grip panels are of Smooth Crotch Walnut showing a feather pattern with inlet bronze medallions and banner. Because of the display mounting the gun does not have a magazine, however if ever the need arise any standard 1911 mag would fit perfectly.
This Colt honors the past glories of the those perilous times and the sacrifices made by the men of the American Expeditionary Force to help stymie the advancing German Army.

When released in 1967, these handsomely decorated pistols were issued to commemorate the upcoming 50th anniversary of The United States participation in World War I. There were four Colt .45 ACP 1911's issued commemorating actions at Chateau-Thierry, Belleau Wood, Marne River (2nd Battle) and Meuse-Argonne; each with a battle scene engraving on the slide and insert battle bar on the grip. All models were displayed in a khaki-colored wood showcase with reversable battle map and history of the action.
This individual Colt 1911 is finely finished in the classic Colt Royal blue, deep and lustrous in its application it frames the battle scene engraved on the slide depicting the famous action known as the Battle of the Meuse-Argonne that led the way to the armistice of 1918. The offensive was the largest operation undertaken by the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) in World War I, with over a million American soldiers participating. The battle was fought from September 26, 1918 until November 11, 1918 and was an ambitious and complex undertaking. In command of the American Expeditionary Force was General John J. Pershing. The American forces found themselves fighting through rough, hilly tree-covered terrain that the Germans had fortified over a four-year period. Pershing’s task was enormous - to break the back of the Germans and force an end to the fighting once and for all. The battle raged with stiffening resistance from reinforced Germans lines, but on the night of November 1st the German High Command issued orders for a withdrawal from the west bank of the Meuse, which led to a general retreat along the whole front and proceeded the surrender of the German forces.
