COLT 1911 EARLY COMMERCIAL MODEL, 1912
Description:
Correction: This is one of only 3500 1911's made in 1913 and not 1912...Serial #C3138, 45 ACP, 5” factory replacement barrel showing light frosting toward the breech end of the bore. This rare 1913 made pistol remains in wonderful condition with about 90% original blue. Most of the loss is due to wear on the grip frame which is toning to a mottled mix of pewter, blue and brown in addition to high edge wear and scratches. The fire-blue finish on the small parts remains strong but has faded over time. The double diamond checkered factory grips rate near excellent with minor diamond point wear... The barrel is a later factory replacement with a blue finish on the chamber area showing rework number “3138 / N” stamped on the bottom in stylized font and a tiny block letter “P” on the top of the chamber. The bottom of the slide is stamped with a rework number “3138” using the same font as on the barrel. The rear sight is the second variation with a “U” notch and flat top but all the other parts appear appropriate for the period of manufacture. A “K” rework mark appears on the right front trigger guard bow. This fine pistol includes a two-tone factory magazine with lanyard loop. A truly lovely very early civilian version of the venerable Model 1911...Will consider trade for small bore sxs shotgun...
