COLT 1911A1 Military Pistol manufactured in 1938. Serial No. 713551. Only 1296 pistols were purchased by the U.S. government in 1938. This is the fewest number in any year produced making them the rarest and most sought after. The pre-war blued guns are the most coveted by collectors. This pistol is all original finish that has faded to a blueish-silver color from actual service in the war. My thought is very well a Marine used gun as you not going to get finish wear like this aboard a Navy ship were most 38's went. It does have the United States Property mark ground out as we have seen many times when the GI brought his gun home afraid Uncle Sam would want to claim it back. Both the slide and the frame are numbered the same, 713551. The gun has all original 1938 parts including a small G barrel that has some frosting in the grooves from use. Correct two-tone magazine.
