COLT 1911AI LATE WWII JSB INSPECTED
Description: Colt 1911A1 Pistol Inspected late 1945 by John S. Begley, District Chief and Army Inspector of Ordnance, Springflied Ordnance District. He only inspected guns for a couple of months. VERY FEW HAVE EVER SURFACED FOR THE COLLECTOR MARKET. Most 1911 collections are void of one. This gun is pretty exceptional in ORIGINAL condition. Pictures do the talking. Everything is correct. Colt "7" stamped barrel, C-R magazine. Mint bore. Serial # 1672638. This was a late 1944 serial number that obviously never got used or issued. When Begley was inspecting guns at the end in August-September 1945 Colt was in the sweep up mode using any left over guns or parts around to finish the contract they knew was coming soon. There are 2 other guns known in this serial number range inspected JSB and shipped in the last shipment September 18,1945 from Colt. This can be found in both Clawson and Meadow's books.
