Colt ~ The Woodsman ~ .22 Long rifle

Description:
This is a first series Sport model Woodsman, with a 4 1/2" barrel, built in late 1940 to early 1941 according to the serial number. It was positioned as a more compact version for field use than the Target model, which had a longer barrel and adjustable sights. First series models features included a shorter and heavier frame than later models, a magazine release at the heel of the grip frame, and no magazine safety. This one is in great shape, showing very little wear. The case that comes with it appears to be hand built, and there are no logos or factory markings on it. The only real issues are the little bit of green that has formed around the grip screws and some numbers that were hand-engraved on the side of the magazine by a previous owner. Without those this gun would have been priced a good bit higher. .22 Long Rifle
