Colt "The Woodsman" Sport 4 1/2" rare post war version
Description:
Colt “The Woodsman” last year of assembly. The First Series Sport was discontinued in 1942 at serial number 157038. After WWII from October 1946 until June 1947 the rest of the pre-war parts were assembled in guns ending with serial number 187423; this gun is 183689. These later guns had the same bright/dark finish that the next (2ndSeries) would feature. This particular pistol has the very desirable 4 ½” barrel and is fitted with rare factory mint original Coltwood (plastic) grips left over from the Bullseye Match Target military contract. Condition wise this pistol is close to pristine. It has spent almost all of its life in the Heiser leather holster that comes with it and there is evidence of holster wear on both side of the muzzle and on the top right and left front edges of the slide. So I will grade this gun at 97-98%. Very collectable and very scarce.
