COLT WOODSMAN - .22LR, 2ND SERIES, 1954, 98%, BOX, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Colt, Year 1954, .22LR, 29oz., 4.5" Barrel Serial Number: 135725S The quintessential American rimfire pistol. Designed by John Moses Browning and finalized by Colt's engineers F. Chadwick and G. Tansley, the Woodsman was first introduced in 1915 and was to be in production in various forms until 1977. The pistol was the first really successful semi-automatic .22 rimfire gun to be offered, earlier attempts had been problematic, but Mr. Browning got it right by using an angled magazine to ensure the rimmed cartridge would not 'rimlock' onto its predecessor. The Woodsman has remained a favorite with shooters and collectors since its introduction. This example serial number 135725S was manufactured in 1954 and is in excellent condition with 98% of its original factory finish evident with clear roll marks and a mirror bore. The grips have a little space between them and the frame and there is a small handling mark on the barrel and frame. The target trigger is exceptional and breaks cleanly. This Woodsman has its original factory box, cleaning rod, paperwork, and Colt screw driver. Thanks for looking!
