Description:
Colt Woodsman, Bullseye Match Target, standard configuration as made in 1940 with patridge front sight, adjustable square notch rear sight, and elephant ear grip. The left side of the barrel is marked "MATCH/ (BULLSEYE)/ TARGET", with Colt's address and patent information across the top. The left side of the frame stamped "THE WOODSMAN", with "COLT" followed by the caliber designation and the Rampant Colt logo stamped on the left side of the slide. SN on butt. Original Colt wrap around grip with silver medallions. Metal components with a lustrous blue finish; the top of the slide, receiver, and barrel with a matte blue finish. Two all blued 10 shot magazines, marked “COLT WOODSMAN/ CAL .22LR/MATCH TARGET MOD”. Complete with green hanging tag, bristle brush, and original shipping box with model markings on end label and penciled SN on base.
Condition:
VG/EXC with sharp edge wear, a few scattered handling marks, and a area of thinning/spotting on left side of barrel as imaged. Very fine freckling on backstrap. EXC grips, oil darkened, with no cracks or chips. Both magazines in EXC original condition. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. Hanging tag is missing a small section along with string. Bristle brush does not have sleeve. No test target or associated literature. A very attractive prewar Colt Match Target with spare magazine, hanging tag, and bristle brush in its original shipping box.
