Colt 1902 Military 38 acp / 38 auto pistol early long slide, serial 13257
Description: Early Colt 1902 Military with the forward serrations which would make a fine addition to your collection. Manufactured in 1904 (many around this serial number including sn# 13258 were shipped to John Browning, Ogden, Utah on 11/7/1904 - could consider a Colt archive letter and some research.) Colt only made about 18,000 of these 1902 military pistols from July 1902 until Dec 1928. They were serial numbered from 15,001 - 15,200 for the U.S. military contract then for the commercial market, backwards from 15,000 to 11,000; then 15,201 to 15,999; then 30,200 to 43,266. Weird numbering. Only the first 3200 had the forward checkering - so this is early and rare. Bluing is nice, although I expect a reblue many years ago. Original grips with some wear on the left lower grip, no chips or cracks. Bore is present but frosted. Slide is matched by seria number to the frame #13257. Inspector markings: "T" forward slide retaining groove, "4" on the frames barrel recess and "4" on bottom of the slide near the firing pin housing. Right side markings are good: "AUTOMATIC COLT CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" and forward "MODEL 1902". Left side slide markings not present. I've shot this when I first put it into my collection about 20 years ago. They are fun to shoot - and this one shot well. Ships UPS insured to your FFL for $40. This pistol is C&R eligible if legal to ship to your jurisdition - know your local laws. I allow a 3 day non-shooting inspection period - but I beleive you'll like this Colt 1902 military 38acp. See my other early Colt autos listed here. Contact me with questions - I want this transaction to make us both happy.
