Description: The Colt Model 1902 Military represents a crucial step in the evolution of American semi-automatic pistols, serving as the direct predecessor to the legendary Model 1911. Developed during the U.S. military's search for a reliable semi-automatic sidearm, the 1902 Military incorporated lessons learned from earlier Browning designs and featured improvements that would eventually culminate in the adoption of the .45 ACP Model 1911.
This excellent 1909 example retains over 80% of its original blue finish and features the distinctive 2-piece checkered hard rubber grips with Rampant Colt medallions and lanyard swivel typical of the military model. Strong bore with some darkness and excellent grips throughout. Please note that the hammer follows the slide forward when released, which may require attention from a qualified gunsmith. An important piece of Colt's semi-automatic pistol development history and a fine example of early 20th century American firearms engineering.
