Description:
COLT 1902 Sporting 38 auto serial # 9133
Mfg'd 1906 one of only 6900 Sportings total manufactured - a continuation of the Model 1900 without the sight safety.
RARE variation as only 500 in the 8000 to 9000 serial range had the front triangular cut serrations, see Doug Sheldon's Collectors Guide to Colt's 38 Auto Pistols pg 78.
Many around this serial number went to Copper Queen in AZ and A Combaluzier in Mexico - probably worthy of a Colt archive letter.
Round hammer
Markings: VP 4 W and 3
Two line slide markings: Patented Colt's Patent Fire Arms Mfg Co (with circled rampant Colt)
April 20, 1897 Sept 9, 1902 Hartford CONN USA
I've fired this one and it functions fine.
See pictures for condition used but not abused, metal with patina and fine grips w/o chips or cracks.
