VERY FINE CONDITION SCARCE MODEL 1902 SPORTING AUTO PISTOL, .38ACP, #10XXX, MADE 1907
Description: VERY FINE CONDITION SCARCE MODEL 1902 SPORTING AUTO PISTOL, .38ACP, #10XXX, MADE 1907. These early Browning designed pistols had a limited production run from 1903-1908 with only 7,500 being produced (This model should not be confused with the k more common 1902 Military Model which featured a square grip frame and was made from 1902-1929). Primitive by modern standards, the Model 1902 has no slide lock or safety. The round hammer has a half cock and full cock and that's all. It took a pretty modern and savvy shooter to buy one of these when everyone else was packing Single Actions and some early side swing cylinder double action revolvers! This is a fine example with bright blue on the frame and slide sides and excellent markings. The top of the slide has some very light brownish freckling mixing in with the good blue (minor and not rust), There is blue wear on the front strap, trigger guard and thinning on the bottom of the frame ahead of the trigger guard. The back strap blue has aged to plum and overall this one shows no sign or cleaning, scrubbing or steel-wooling. Colt embossed hard rubber grips are excellent, original magazine, bright excellent bore. Nice fire blue on the trigger side and still some dark case colors on the sides of the hammer. A real piece of early Colt auto pistol history from 115 years ago.
