Offered here for sale and just acquired from a prestigious collection is this superb vintage 1925 Colt Model 1908 hammerless .25 caliber pocket auto in untouched condition.
Along with this specimen comes a Colt factory documentation letter denoting its shipment to the famed NYC dealer and importer von Langerke & Detmold.
The firm was founded in 1882 in New York City by Friedrich Justus Johann von Lengerke (born 1854 in Oldenburg, Germany) and Ernst Detmold. V L & D operated as importers and dealers of sporting goods, hunting guns (notably from Germany), fishing and camping gear, ammunition, and related items. It later waS ACQUIRED BY THE equally well known Abercrombie & Fitch.
This specimen, serial number 351588 is all original and appears not to have seen any use. It has all of its bnlued finish and vibrant case colors on appropriate parts. The Colt medallion checkered grips show no use as well.
Certainly this piece was ordered by the NYC dealer and most assuredly for an important customer.
