1917 Mfg. Colt 1911, Unissued 99% Condition W/ Colt Letter and Full WWI Rig.
Description: 1917 Mfg.Colt 1911 in 99% unissued condition with dated full rig: U.S. holster, belt and magazine pouch and pistol lanyard. Major Gilbert H. Stewart circle proof stamped on left side of frame. H& P stamped on barrel. We had this fine Colt pistol in our collection many years ago and have reacquired it due to a lifelong collector and good friends passing. This has to be near the highest condition WW1 1917 Colt 1911 available anywhere. Beautiful, correct and it appears to be unissued or unfired. When we first got this pistol many years ago from a family that claimed it was a U.S. Generals issued pistol. But they had no papers to prove the story. Colt archives letter shows it was shipped 24 July 1917 to the Commanding officer, Springfield Armory, Springfield Mass. in a shipment of 600 guns. Gun comes with one correct tutone lanyard loop magazine and two tutone WWI mags in pouch. I believe it would be near impossible to find a finer honest example of the model.
