Here is an exactly correct and completely original Colt military government model of 1911 U S Army 45 caliber pistol.. with correct and original 5" barrel in good condition with h and p markings in view. The magazine is in good condition and correctly blued, sights and grips are correct and both in excellent condition as well. The course grain metal finish on this particular blued gun is exactly how your military model of 1911 should appear in this near first generation of manufacture.
This is Not a black army finish (late 1918), this is a blued gun (early 1918). Again, not cut quite square, the course diagonal metal grain cut on slide flats and side of frame match in appearance perfectly, and proves originality as only colt in the early years could produce such a distinct finish, and their first priority in quality control was to match slide and frame appearance. Grain is squiggly on top of slide. The frame has 4 transition points.. from grain near parallel with slide to grain vertical along grip frame angle. This is important to verify original finish.. in fantastic condition with great roll mark depth and definition. No significant assembly mark; finish wear on front grip strap IS significant, but it does not look bad.. and only lite wear on rear strap, no big significant scratches or gouges in metal, and only couple of areas with hint of petina. Hopefully the pictures can finalize your confidence.. this is NOT a makeover !!! A colt letter is not included with this firearm. Fairly early serial number!
