***SOLD*** Absolutely amazing example of a WWII Colt 1911A1! This one is in excellent control, 98% plus!!! collector Grade!
This Colt was made in 1944, shipped to Transportation Officer, Springfield Armory in September of 1944, and then sent to Britain as part of the Lend Lease Act approved in 1941. Britain declared all WWII 1911A1 obsolete in 1952 and subjected the pistols to British proof laws requirements before they were released! This pistol features all the correct proof marks from Birmingham Proof House, "BNP" marked on receiver, slide and barrel.
It is in All Original condition, based on our thorough inspection! It's marked G.H.D for Guy H. Drewry, Brig. General inspector mark. Correct barrel with "Colt 45 Auto", "P" on barrel lug, and "f" on bottom (see pics), with outstanding, pristine bore condition. It comes with correct WWII Scovill magazine subcontracted for Colt (thus marked "C-S"). All parts are original and period correct! No serial number under the firing plate, as expected, since they stopped this practice between serial numbers 1140000 and 1145000.
Original correct Coltwood plastic stocks with mold numbers, wide rings, and strengthening ribs, in excellent condition! The action on this pistol is crip and operates flawlessly! The original finish is outstanding! Again, the condition on this pistol is amazing!
Hard to find another WWII Colt in better condition! Own a piece of history and a great investment! This one won't last!
