Here for your perusal is this true custom 1911 .45 ACP slide combination from master pistol smith, the late Jim Boland of Southern Calif. This Government model 1911 was built on a Colt National Match frame with an extended dust cover. A KING trigger was installed and the grip safety was de-activated for competition shooting. An Armand Swensen ambi thumb safety is also installed. The National Match slide was extended to house a 6-1/2 inch barrel. A proprietary Boland made recoil guide rod sysytem is installed to accomodate the extra length slide. Now the real gunsmithing took place when Boland used a Colt Mk IV slide to convert it to a fixed stanionary barrel attached to the frame with the rear slide portion executing the extraction and feeding process of firing. Additionally, the top of the slide was releived and beveled to take a sight plane insert and also a platform to place and electronic sight on. It is similar to a S&W model 41 or the Bob Marvel and Fred Kart .22 conversion units in function but for the .45 ACP. more pictures upon request. Offers entertained.
