Description:
This original colt 1911 was manufactured in 1919. Destined for military service it unfortunately saw no battle but was then sold to the civilian market. This handgun is still an excellent piece of American history as it was designed by John Browning; and adopted by the army March 29th 1911. Shortly thereafter adopted by the US Navy and Marine Corps in 1913. By the beginning of WW1, more than 68,000 pistols were in service and the huge demand for the new pistol led to contracts being granted to other manufacturers as well. None
