Scarce, Original Finish Colt Prewar .38 Super 1911A1 Pistol, made 1933, with Ultra-Rare WWI era Audley Leather Holster forbelt attachment.
Description:
Standard configuration Colt Super 38, basically a blued full size Government 1911A1 chambered for the .38 Super, with fixed front sight and drift adjustable rear sight. Left side of slide marked with the usual two line Colt address and patent dates. Right side of the slide marked “COLT SUPER .38 AUTOMATIC”. Full serial number on right side of frame. Checkered trigger, take down lever, safety, magazine release and beavertail hammer. Uniformly checkered wood grips. Rotatable lanyard ring. Correct dual tone magazine with “COLT SUPER 38 AUTO” on floorplate. Complete with swiveling Audley leather holster, made forbelt attachment with thigh strap, marked "AUDLEY/PATENTED/OCT.13,1914" on the obverse side.
Condition:
VG original pre-war Colt finish with moderate wear as consistent with a pistol that has been carried and used for an extended period, a rotatable lanyard ring having been added to the bottom of the arched/checkered magazine housing. Comparable condition grips, oil stained with blunted checkering, and magazine. Nearly mirror bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. VG-EXC holster with largely intact original stitching, well-functioning spring-loaded Audley retainer, nicely marked and dated on obverse surface, thigh strap with moderate crazing. An all original prewar Colt 38 Super, with an even rarer WWI era Audley belt holster made forbelt attachment, an extremely attractive ensemble rarely offered for sale!
