Description: Near Mint WWI Colt 1911 .45 Auto C. 1918 Offered here for sale is a newly acquired truly outstanding example of a WWI-era Colt Model 1911 .45 ACP military pistol a specimen that would be welcome in many advanced military or Colt-focused firearms collections. This WWI Military issue Colt with serial Number: 404812 was produced in mid to late 1918 production. It retains nearly 100% of its original military blued finish and has a mint bore. The markings on the slide and frame are sharp and crisp including inspector’s marks. It has original factory diamond-checkered walnut grips, near unused and a correct two-tone WWI magazine with the folded base and loop, also in excellent condition.Its only imperfection is one small area of patina on the left side of the slide near the muzzle, but extremely faint and minor and not detracting from its visual appeal. This pistol would have been manufactured during a peak wartime production period in 1918, intended for U.S. military service in WWI. The serial number confirms its authenticity as a U.S. Government-issued sidearm, likely delivered under the Ordnance Department’s massive contracts during WWI. Such pristine examples are exceedingly rare, as most saw extensive combat use and later rebuild programs through WWII and Korea. Unaltered examples—especially with their original finish, grips, and matching-era magazine—are highly sought after.
