1943 Colt 1911A1 WWII .45 ACP 1911 Matched Slide GHD U.S. Army
Description:
***Curio & Relic** California Shipping Dealer***
Excellent original finish 1943 Colt M1911A1 chambered in the venerable .45 ACP. Features 5" barrel. Original parkerized finish shows virtually no holster wear near the muzzle, nor high edge wear. Some light spotting of surface patina on the left frame, but really in the hand it is barely noticeable. My high resolution pictures really enhance it. Perfect, Correct Coltwood Stocks, type 2, 3rd variation. G.H.D. initials below the slide stop for inspector “Guy H. Drewry." “P” proof near the magazine release button, U.S. Military. Colt logo and text left side of the slide. Right side of the frame reads “United States Property”/ No 883631. M1911A1 U.S. Army. proper “R” marked WWII used 8 round magazine. Barrel is marked left side above the lug “Colt 45 Auto” and properly “P” proofed on the lug. Underside is marked “S.” This means commercial barrel. in Clawson's Book he references commercial barrels in abundance were used in this serial range on military contract pistols. Not uncommon, as Colt was not going to waste a part. These barrels are actually finished nicer in a blue. Proper “P” proof a top the slide, forward of the rear sight shows U.S. Military. Finally, what makes this pistol very unique and highly sought after is it's proven to be original with the serial numbered slide. Colt did this under the firing pin stop for serials #710,001-1,138,000.
