Original WW2 US .22 Service Model Colt ACE 1911 Pistol
Description:
Serial #SM 12924, .22 LR, 5" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1945-made pistol that has retained 85-90% of an overall arsenal reapplied parkerized finish that has left some of the markings somewhat soft, but still clear and legible. There is silvering present along the high edges and projections, while the floating chamber-equipped barrel has a brightly finished breech. The US inspector’s initials are present on the left side just above the magazine release: "JSB" (John S. Begley), while the Ordnance Dept. crossed cannon stamp is present on the right side of the frame just behind the top of the grip panel. The slide has a correct later type serrated front sight blade mated to a Stevens adjustable rear sight. The left grip is a correct Coltwood resin panel with wide screw reinforcements, while the right grip is a Keyes Fiber Co. example. Both panels have a nearly identical dark brown color, and are in fine shape with only some minor flattening to the points on either side. A single correct magazine with "COLT / 22 ACE (in diamond) LR / SERVICE MODEL" on the floorplate is included. This is a handsome US ACE pistol rework, and is in very good-near fine condition.
